About Me

I’m Aimee Vaile, a lifelong Washingtonian, wife, and mother, running for Battle Ground City Council – Position 5, to preserve our small-town charm while building a vibrant future for all. Born and raised in Everett, WA, I lived there until 2009, witnessing its heartbreaking decline—an increase in homelessness, crime, vandalism, and despair. As a survivor of sexual assault in that city, I saw firsthand how mismanagement can erode a community’s spirit, leaving homes in disarray and citizens disengaged. I have lived in Battle Ground part-time since 2007 and full-time 2011, determined to ensure this town I love never follows that dangerous path. My husband purchased our home in downtown Battle Ground in 2006, and together we’ve raised our blended family of six children here, celebrating five graduates from Battle Ground schools. Now, as grandparents to one with another on the way, we’re more committed than ever to this city’s legacy.

Battle Ground is my home, and I cherish its rural heart: Friday night football games where neighbors cheer as one, strolls down a walkable Main Street buzzing with local shops, and picnics with my family in Lewisville Park. My husband and I co-own Vaile Home Inspection, where I manage the administrative side, and I run Arabella Organic, a small Etsy business. Together, we created The Alphabet Kids Series (www.alphabetkidsbook.com), a children’s book series we author and illustrate, reflecting our passion for education and creativity. As a homeowner and business owner, I’m deeply invested in our economy and community. On our micro-farm, I tend to a pet turkey, a small flock of chickens, and a hobby garden, growing heirloom organic tomatoes and peppers. I love riding bikes with my family, hiking to scenic views, baking sourdough bread, brewing kombucha, collecting stamps in my McMenamins passport, sampling fries at local diners, playing bass guitar in Vista Community Church’s worship team, and coaching football. I also treasure reading in my greenhouse—built by my husband from antique windows I collected around Battle Ground—surrounded by our two dogs and three cats.

Since 2011, I’ve poured my heart into volunteering: coaching Clark County Youth Football, serving as team mom and a concessions volunteer for Battle Ground Little League, teaching at Sonrise HS Cooperative, and supporting my church. A favorite memory I have from coaching is of a shy football player who believed he couldn’t succeed, then watching him grow in confidence over the season until he realized he could – a reminder of every child’s worth, fueling my advocacy for our youth. As Washington State’s Lead Ambassador for OurRescue (formerly Operation Underground Railroad), I’ve visited Battle Ground businesses to rally support against the rising threat of child and at-risk adult trafficking, a cause close to my heart for our community’s safety. With courses in Criminology from Everett Community College, I bring expertise to these efforts, having worked as a vault teller, an administrator at Boeing, and now as a child educator and author. My elected roles as a Clark County Precinct Committee Officer in Battle Ground, Partners in Education Secretary in Battle Ground, Washington State 18th Legislative District Caucus Secretary, and CCRP Executive Secretary—have taught me to unite diverse perspectives, solve problems, and strengthen our community.

I’m running for City Council because Battle Ground needs a fresh perspective to address challenges that have lingered too long. With respect for the current council’s efforts, our city continues to struggle with speeding, overburdened roadways, inadequate baseball fields that flood in the rain, vehicle break-ins, a lack of indoor recreational facilities for our children and families and a need to increase green spaces, hiking trails and increase the tree canopy. Within the past several years, the council voted to increase their salaries by nearly 1000% (compared with data nine years prior), placing an additional tax burden on our families. I will never vote to increase taxes on our already burdened families. I want to make biking safe again, so children can ride to school and families can bike to local shops, reducing our carbon output and fostering a healthier, more connected community. Our water bills are among the highest in the area, creating a need for future planning to relieve the negative impact on our families. We need new baseball and soccer fields, hiking trails, and indoor spaces for rock climbing, dance, and art, ensuring our kids have safe, creative outlets year-round in our rainy Pacific Northwest climate. I’ll work to increase our green canopy, preserving green spaces and adding shade to our streets, making Battle Ground more beautiful and sustainable. To lower water costs, I’ll propose a Water Efficiency Partnership, working to secure grants for low-flow infrastructure and negotiating with Clark County for better rates, saving families money without raising taxes.

I’m not here to use this position as a bullet point on a political resume, vying for larger seats in the future. I have no desire for power – I’m a huge proponent of term limits and believe leadership should be about service, not ambition. I simply love Battle Ground and want to fight to protect it for our families, now and always. As the daughter of a U.S. Army veteran, I was raised to value integrity, hard work, and dedication. I’ll bring those values to the City Council, working to secure grants, donations, and sponsorships to fund improvements without increasing tax burdens. My platform includes a Traffic Flow Plan with grant-funded roundabouts to curb speeding; “Grow Smart, Stay Battle Ground” to prioritize single-family homes and protect our rural charm; a Safe Battle Ground Partnership and Neighborhood Watch Program to keep our streets secure; and “Adopt a Roadway/Trail” initiatives to maintain parks affordably.

A famous Greek proverb says “A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit.” These words of wisdom inspire the vision I hold for Battle Ground. Twenty years from now, I want our children and grandchildren to see a City Council that protected green spaces, built lasting recreational facilities, and kept our community safe, businesses flourishing and our culture uniquely charming. I’ll work to secure grants, listen to every voice, and lead with my heart.
